Here is my first project for my textiles course...YAY!!! So I had a plan for this but things changed and my first project ended us being a circle skirt!!! Which was super fun...read on for more :D..
So to start out I ran ( more like walking with great excitement) and chose a few different fabrics (she has quite the collection). Now I like my clothes a little crazy so they all did not match perfectly. I'm super sorry if the images are a little hard to see there was a bit of weird lighting when I took them.
Next I needed a pattern!! Thankfully this summer my momma and I created one for a 3/4 circle skirt so it was pretty simple to make it a circle skirt.
A one coloured skirt can be nice but a little boring. So I cut out different pieces and sort of quilted it all together. At this point in the process I was kinda scared about what I would do to the poor fabric, even worse my mom was not home to save me if I messed up. Thankfully it all turned out all right and by the time I had a problem my mom was home.
So after I had four of the pieces that are pictured above cut and pinned I got out the sewing machine and started to sew it all together
After a bunch of sewing and way less problems then I thought would come about, I had what is pictured below, A Circle with a hole in it. But it was not just any circle it was a pretty cool quilted looking circle. :D
Now to escape the poncho stage...I had what felt like miles on hemming ahead of me...
Pinning the bottom of a circle proved to be quite the challenge, but eventually I got there. And after about ten minutes of sewing around the bottom the hemming was done.
Yay a skirt...haha wait a minute the waist part is way to big...time for elastic
Now my mom is pretty nifty at sewing so she showed me how to pin on and sew on the elastic, it was a pretty cool process! Elastic has always been my favourite part of sewing!
So after that (and some ironing) I had a pretty cool skirt (in a total of about three hours)
It's pretty twirlific
A big thanks to my mom for helping me not make a disaster :)
